Anniversary of Doing the Deal
The Deal Men’s stag AA group was designed as a takeoff group from our brother
meeting in Fullerton, CA.
The Dog on the Roof Men’s Stag Group will be celebrating 50 years of
strong recovery next May.
In 1996, some gentleman in Des Moines, IA. founded, or created a Stag
group called The Deal.
One of the members of The DOTR group was speaking in Cedar Rapids. The
speaker happened to be the sponsor of Randy T., After his speaking engagement
Keith spent a week at Randy’s home. While building a drag bike in Randy’s garage
they discussed the possibilities of a stag group in Des Moines. After a small
discussion in Randy’s basement they moved ahead. The first meeting was in a
backyard at Mike T’s in Avon, IA. Attending the first ever meeting was Jim S.
Mike H. Pat M. Tommy G. Jeff J. Herb H. Matt C. Mike T. and Randy T. The reading

The Deal was moved to the east side of Des Moines to the MCAT building.
That was home for the next 3 years. Since that time it has been growing strong
in the Columbus Hall on the south side of Des Moines. They initiated action in
recovery to help others get on their feet and find a better way.
The Deal Men’s Group is known for their strong recovery, sponsorship and
